Abstract

There is a considerable contribution to India’s tourist sector made by the hospitality industry’s economic
output. The demand for both domestic and international travel has increased significantly as a result of a
growing middle class and higher levels of disposable income. As a direct consequence of this, the hospitality
sector has emerged as a large contributor to India’s gross domestic product (GDP), becoming a crucial engine
of economic growth. In addition, the job possibilities generated by hotels have contributed to a decrease in
the rates of unemployment, which is particularly beneficial in areas that are extremely dependant on tourism.
In addition to its contributions to the economy, the hotel business has also been instrumental in improving
the vacation experience as a whole for tourists. India’s reputation as a desired worldwide destination has
been raised as a result of investments made in superior accommodations. These accommodations range from
quaint inns to five-star resorts. Additionally, the incorporation of technology has revolutionised the way that
guests engage with hotels, making it possible to have smooth booking experiences, mobile check-ins, and
personalised services. In recent years, there has been a rise in awareness regarding the need of ethical and
sustainable tourist practises. The hotel business in India is gradually implementing environmentally friendly
practises, which aligns it with worldwide trends and demonstrates India’s dedication to the protection of the
environment. These initiatives are not only beneficial to the environment, but they also satisfy the
preferences of travellers who are sensitive of their impact on the natural world. This study reviews the
impact of the hotel sector on the expansion and development of tourism in India.
